All women fall under three classifications of body types. Mesomorphs tend to be muscular. Endomorphs are more rounded and voluptous. Ectomorphs are slim and linear in shape. Mesomorphs respond to strength training by building muscle mass much faster than Ectomorphs, even though they may be following the same training regimens. Endomorphs generally need to lose body fat in order to see size and shape take place. Ectomorphs are less likely to build muscle mass but will gain strength. One of the principles of strength training is that if you overload a muscle, you increase its size. With cardio, the overload is typically your own body weight. Activities like stair stepping, or step training result in changes in the size and shape of the muscles of the lower body. Increasing the height of the step or adding power movements to your workouts will result in muscle, because this increases the overload. If you are one who bulids muscle to quickly in your lower half and do not find it to be what you want, you could reduce the step height or lower the impact. However this will reduce the aerobic value. Understanding your body, and how you repond to exercise can help in setting realistic goals for YOU! Don't compare yourself to anyone else. There are just to many factors that are different from each individual. You are only working towards your goal... so keep focused on you!!!
