DIRTY 30..was exactly what I wanted it to be! Thanks for giving it your all!!You guys did some serious sweating..and Corinne says you stink!! Whew!! Wasn't it fun?? I have Ami terrified that we will go for 50's in December! lol! I love that you sign up for something and you have no idea what your getting yourself into! You do it anyways!! Takes courage and a desire to make a change! I really want to give a shout out to Teri. She just ran her first, and her last half marathon on sat. She has to have double knee surgeries next week, and the doctor told her no more running again! All that running can be jarring on the joints and knees and he had suggested no more running unless she wanted a knee replacement. She found out on Mon, and ran the half on sat! Her heart just knew that she needed to do this one before surgery. She had trained hard! She ran it in 2:27!I am so proud of her!! I love that instead of being negative she chose to stay positive. When plan A didn't work, she is now going for plan B! Her next goal is to speed walk the Ogden half! Oh no..she is not going to let someone buy her ticket--she is going to move forward with her life and her goals and she will do it..as fast as she can without running! I love that! When her husband fell off the roof and shattered both ankles and had to endure a major recovery- Teri was right there positive as ever!! She helped him go from crawling to crutches to no crutches and back to water skiing again! She is definitely someone who I know is a great example of " IF THERE IS A WILL, THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY!I consider her a close friend..and consider myself very lucky! Good job Teri!! I am including a new green tea drink I heard about..My friend Eva recently blogged about a secret drink at Starbucks that is super healthy, tastes good, and costs under a buck. When I first read her post, I thought it had to be too good to be true. No way can you order a venti anything at Starbucks for that cheap. So, on to the details. The drink is called a Venti Matcha on ice. You simply ask for three scoops of matcha powder (they use this to make their green tea lattes) mixed with water. You'll end up with a big green refreshing beverage that tastes a lot like iced tea. The reason it's so cheap is that they do not offer matcha as a stand alone item on the menu, so instead they just charge for an ice water and then hit the "add matcha" button. So what makes it so much healthier than green tea? Well, when you drink matcha, you actually ingest the whole ground up tea leaf as opposed to just the brewed water. It contains lots of trace elements and is rich in catechin polyphenols. These compounds contain powerful antioxidants that help prevent cancer, heart disease, and slow the aging process. It also contains fiber and almost no calories!
