You know that little saying..two steps forward and one step back? Remember when you fall back there is a lesson to be learned. If you can learn from the set back you can propel youself forward again. Surround yourself with people who are supportive of your goals. There is nothing better than having friends that can support you when you slip and join in the joy when you don't.It's even better if you can find a friend who enjoys doing the same activity or sport as you. Being with a friend pushes you just a little bit harder..and if your lucky makes that friendship a little bit stronger! The only place to go from there is forward...so one foot in front of the other and out to catch those dreams.

As soon as you wake up, find your resting heart rate(RHR). Feel your pulse by pressing into your left wrist, for 15 seconds, and counting the beats of your heart. Then follow this formula to find a maximum heart rate(MHR. Can go up to 80%
220-age= MHR-RHR x .75 + RHR = 75% of MHR

Then ask yourself this..Did I work as hard as I could of today??

My hubby bought me a brand new spankin spin bike for Christmas!I was so excited! Let me tell you what..I used it once for 40 min and the sweat was dripping off me! Thats whats great about spinning! The problem is, my right knee still slides a tad after my injury and it pulls on my it band. It retails for 699$, and Jon got it on sale for 500 dollars. I will sell it to anyone who is interested for 400 dollars. Thats 100 dollars less and it has only been used 40 min. If nobody is interested I will put it on KSL. Biking is great for cross training, great for cardio, and creates gorgeous legs! Here is a pic. If anyone is interested please let me know!

Linsay ran her half marathon in 2 hours 8 min! Way to go girl!! Susan was not able to complete hers due to cramps..she still gets a big WAY TO GO, she was close !! Tis the season to challenge yourself! If you don't run then bike! You don't have to run to enjoy the outdoors! There are many bike races all over utah!! Biking is a hard sport too! Steve just signed up for a whole marathon..so did Christy and Lindsay. I signed up for a half, and so has Kristen and Melody. Ruth and Morgan are doing 10k's. It can be fun to have a challenge!

Let me tell you about a race that requires the kind of strength that not very many have! It is the craziest, most inspiring, hardest, roughest toughest thing I have heard of! And no..it would never be a consideration for me! However I love to hear how the human body can push through the barrier of fear and pain, just to say they did it!

The Leadville, Colorado 100. First it is the highest city in the United States. To give you a sense of what it is like..imagine running the Boston Marathon twice with a sock stuffed in your mouth and then hike to the very top of Pikes Peak. Then, do it all over again with your eyes closed!! Its nearly 4 full marathons, half of them in the dark, with twin 2600 foot climbs. The starting line is twice as high as the altitude where planes pressurize their cabins, and from there you only go up. Not even half of the runners make it to the finish. Its so cold and the winds are so bad at the top, everything is muddy and its pitch black, except for your little light.
Remember my little saying..Mind over body?? This would definately be one of those times. Its so amazing to me the power of the body!
So remember these people who have paid to run this race in Colorado, and draw some strength for them for your small little military testing... Now ask yourself this...does testing sound so bad now???

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2011 here we come! I usually make resolutions every year, but this year i didn't. Instead I chose 1 phrase..To live with INTENSITY. I want to be passionate and more intense with the things in my life that are important. I'm hoping that the INTENSITY that I will be striving for in many areas of my life, will only make it better! Yes, this includes you also. I want to train you with more intensity. We all need motivators, and friends, and people to help empower and inspire us. I want to be one of those people for you. I heard it said that trainers are like therapists. Another trainer had said how we go through marriages, divorces, babies, deaths, career changes, and day to day life with our clients. By training you I get to play a part in it by not just being empathetic and a good listener but by teaching you how to get more energy, better self esteem, and reminding you that even when life throws you a curve ball..you have to take care of yourself! You have to love yourself! You have to workout for your health, for your mind. It is time to take small steps in the right direction, and set yourself on a better path. Quit being so hard on yourself! It is way to hard to be perfect in a imperfect world! Get off the rollercoaster of internal battles. They only lead to stress and well we know where stress usually takes us...right to the refridgerator! Take away the negative and put back the positve! 2011 a new journey!
I have enjoyed some much needed time off with my family and kids, but I must say even though I saw many of you on Tuesday, I kinda missed you guys! Which got me thinking..hmmm. I wonder if they miss me?? Then I got the cutest text from Nicki.. and it said..I miss your cute face!! seriously made my day! Thanks Nick! And A thanks to Lindsay who was my little workout partner at least 3 times over the holiday break! It just felt a little quiet around here and it was nice to share a few sweat sessions!I cant wait to show you new posters of Ruth, and wait till you see what big changes Angie has been making!!!Wow!
And FYI.. I'm on to some new ab exercises that hurt so bad..it must be good!!You might also start looking forward to the reverse plank!
New year brings new reminders..don't come in with snow wet feet on the floors. Change into gym shoes that are not all wet when you get here! Many of you are forgetting towels..please don't! Make sure to clean up all equipment, and as always don't come sick!!! xoxoxo
